IDWALA Guest house is an original farmhouse which was built using natural rock over 100 years ago. This rock has been carried over into our bathrooms, which have natural rock features so that a clever mixture of luxury and nature is evident throughout the guest house.
The rooms are all thatched and tastefully renovated to create a luxurious and comfortable haven set in tranquil indigenous gardens, so that the guest house is now a stylish luxurious home away from home, equipped with the latest technology and conveniently situated in the middle of Johannesburg with magnificent views over the northern suburbs.
The ambience is luxurious, quiet, and relaxing, it is an ideal place for a stopover or as a second home during your business trip or stay in Johannesburg.
The spacious non-smoking bedrooms are comfortably furnished with extra length kingsize beds, crisp cotton linen, flat screen LCD television, with satellite channels (DSTV), underfloor heating and stunning bathrooms, with heated towel rails. Computer facilities include wireless ADSL internet access.
In addition IDWALA is also able to offer 2 self-catering cottages with own private entrance. One is a open plan cottage (Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom) and the other one is a 2 roomed cottage with separate bedroom, bathroom and lounge with sleeper couch and kitchenette.
We are serving delicious breakfasts in the dining room overlooking the pool, where birdlife abounds. Lunch/Dinner on request. We’ve just been awarded with Portfolio’s Chef’s Hat, an accolade for “inspired cooks and sublime food”

Idwala lies in the leafy green suburb of Darrenwood, away from the hustle and bustle of the large city and yet just a few minutes away from Cresta Centre, one of the largest and most popular shopping centres in Johannesburg. Rosebank, which has a variety of shops with an international flavour, is not more than ten minutes away, and Sandton, the ever expanding business centre with a treasure trove of boutiques and restaurants is also within easy reach. The trendy and varied restaurants of Parkhurst and Greenside are only a few minutes drive from Idwala.

Driving Directions:
From OR Tambo international Airport:
Take the R24 until you get to the N3, take the N3 Highway (past Linksfield off ramp, Modderfontein, London RD, Marlboro Dr, etc) The N3 will eventually become the N1, take the the Malibongwe Drive (Ex-Hans Strijdom Drive) Off ramp, Turn left on to Malibongwe Drive until you get to Republic RD. Turn Right into Republic and follow all the way down. Cresta Shopping Centre will be on you Right hand side. Past Cresta shopping centre and for +/- 1.5km after Cresta you will get to Blanche street. Turn left into Blanche street and follow the road until you get to T-Junction. Idwala is on that T-junction.
