Day 1: (Sat) Windhoek / Kalahari Desert (D)
Depart Windhoek, drive via Rehoboth, Hardap Dam into Kalahari Desert. The Kalahari Desert is part of the huge sand basin that reaches from the Orange River up to Angola, in the west to Namibia and in the east to Zimbabwe. On arrival, depart on a scenic sunset drive in open vehicles. Animals that live in the region include brown hyenas, lions, meerkats, several species of antelope (including the oryx or gemsbok and the tsamma), and many species of bird and reptile. Accommodation: Auob Lodge or similar
Day 2: (Sun) Kalahari Desert / Fish River Canyon(BD)
Drive through the Kalahari, and see the Koker-boom forest near Keetmanshop. The quiver tree or 'Kokerboom' is indigenous to this hot and dry area. Stop for lunch in Keetmanshop (lunch for own account). Keetmanshoop is the traffic junction and the economic centre for the whole south of Namibia. Continue via Naute Dam, see the Fish River Canyon's spectacular northern fringes. Accommodation: Canon Lodge or similar
Day 3: (Mon) Fish River Canyon / Lüderitz (BD)
We travel via Bethanie and Aus today. There is a possibility of seeing the desert adapted horses on entering the Namib Desert. Arrive at Lüderitz around midday, and depart on an afternoon scenic drive around the southern peninsula.Accommodation: Nest hotel or similar
Day 4: (Tue) Lüderitz / Maltahöhe (BLD)
Visit Kolmanskop, a deserted diamond town and museum. This previously bustling diamond town is now abandoned and fights a constant struggle with the sand dunes of the Namib Desert. Enjoy a packed lunch, before visiting Duwisib Castle in the afternoon. Continue to the Maltahöhe region for overnight.Accommodation: Hammerstein Hotel or similar
Day 5: (Wed) Maltahöhe / Namib Naukluft Park (BD)
Depart early this morning to Sossusvlei. The best time to view Sossusvlei is at sunrise, the colours are strong and constantly changing, allowing for wonderful photographic oppor-tunities. The midday heat is intense and best spent in the shade. The climb to the top of one of the dunes can be gruelling under the heat of the sun and with the ever-shifting sand under the feet, but is worth it for the magnificent views. Visit Sesriem Canyon and Solitaire en-route past the Naukluft Mountains. Accommodation: Rostock Ritz or similar
Day 6: (Thu) Namib Naukluft Park / Swakopmund (BLD)
Drive through Kuiseb Canyon towards the coast. Enjoy a packed lunch. See the Welwit-schia Mirabilis plants said to grow older than a 1 000 years. Visit Moon Landscape and Walvis Bay. The Moon Valley is an eerie and surrealistic landscape, made up of bizarre rock formations of red lava's and yellow sandstone's. Arrive in Swakopmund late afternoon.Accommodation: Hansa Hotel or similar
Day 7: (Fri) Swakopmund / Windhoek (B)
Travel to Walvis Bay lagoon and see the seabirds. Continue inland towards Usakos and Karibib, and visit the Hencherts Centre, Herero graves and the handcraft market in Oka-handja. Arrive in Windhoek in the late afternoon, where the tour ends. 6 Nights / 7 Days
