Itinerary

DAY 1: (SUN)  WINDHOEK / ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK (L/D)
This morning you will be collected from your Windhoek City Hotel by 07h30, and head north via Okahandja, where we will visit the local market where traditional wood carvings and other curios are available.  We continue northwards through the picturesque countryside where we start to get an idea of the wide open spaces and tranquility of Namibia. At Otjiwarongo we stop for a light lunch at the C'est si Bon Hotel (lunch included). We stop and visit the Otjikoto Lake (Namibia's largest natural lake - Otjikoto means 'Deep Hole') before we reach our lodge situated on the border of the Etosha National Park in the late afternoon.
Overnight - Mushara Lodge or similar

DAY 2: (MON)  ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK (B/D)
Today we will spend a full morning in this world class game park, visiting a number of waterholes to observe the wildlife. Etosha, translated, means 'The place of dry water' and here we get our first view of the magnificent pan. At midday we will head north through the park and out to the Oshana region. Here we will visit a local Ovambo tribe living in traditional surroundings before we turn back to our lodge late that afternoon.
Overnight- Mushara Lodge or similar

DAY 3: (TUE)  ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK (B/D)
We again enter the park, driving along the vast saltpan with stops at various waterholes and game viewing en route. We stop for lunch at the Halali Restcamp (own account). After lunch we continue westwards through the park and on to our overnight stop.
Overnight - Namatubis or similar

DAY 4: (WED)  ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK / DAMARALAND (B/D)
Today we make an early start to see the highlights of Damaraland - one of the last true wilderness areas in Africa. We leave our hotel after breakfast, heading through Otjo and then on to Khorixas, the capital of this region. The journey takes us through scenic landscapes and Damara villages before we reach the petrified forest just prior to  arriving at our lodge in time for lunch.
Overnight - Twyfelfontein Lodge or similar

DAY 5: (THU)  DAMARALAND (B/D)
After a relaxed breakfast we visit the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, and then on to see some of the fascinating geological features for which the area is famous, such as the 'Organ Pipes' and 'Burnt Mountain'.  The afternoon is at leisure although those that wish to can take a nature drive on which you may be fortunate enough to see the elusive desert elephants and other wildlife in this area. (own account)
Overnight - Twyfelfontein Lodge or similar

DAY 6: (FRI)  DAMARLAND / SWAKOPMUND (B)
We leave our lodge after breakfast, driving through the Namib Desert to Henties Bay, where we stop for lunch (own account).  From Henties Bay we follow the salt road along the Atlantic Ocean to the charming coastal resort of Swakopmund where we will take a short tour of the town and visit some of the regions natural wonders such as the ancient Welwitschia mirabilis, found nowhere else in the world, the Moon landscape and the Oasis Goanikontes before checking in to our hotel.

DAY 7: (SAT)  SWAKOPMUND (B)
Today is a free day in this charming town. Options include visiting the museum - the best in Namibia, the aquarium, the crystal gallery or simply to just explore the town.  A wonderful option is the harbour cruise (optional and to book with guide - own account). The cruise is spent searching for dolphins and whales, not forgetting our two stowaways Robbie and Israel - two tame Cape Fur Seals who will entertain us as they join us for the cruise! Delicious light snacks, oysters and drinks are included.  This evening we meet with a new group that joins us for the extension program.  We suggest having a special fish dinner (own account) in a small local restaurant.
Overnight - Swakopmund Hotel Entertainment Centre

DAY 8: (SUN) SWAKOPMUND / SSUSVLEI (B/D)
After a late breakfast, we travel via Walvis Bay to the edges of the Namib Desert and then proceed through the southern region of the Namib Naukluft Park, the Kuiseb Canyon, and the Gaub Pass before we reach our accommodation. Once again, we are treated to the expanses of Namibia, unlike anywhere else in the world. (In fact, in the Nama language, Namib means 'Vast').
Overnight - Namib Desert Lodge or similar

DAY 9: (MON)  SOSSUSVLEI (B/D)
An early morning rise will be rewarded by the sight of the spectacular dunes at Sossusvlei, with reputedly the highest dunes in the world. Early morning presents the best views and the light is best for this photographers paradise. Energetic guests may choose to climb to the top of the dunes for even more beautiful views before returning to our lodge to avoid the fiercest heat of the day. This evening we head into the desert for one of the highlights of the trip, a Desert Braai (Barbecue).
