Accommodation at Pongwe Beach Hotel
The resort’s beautiful gardens surround the beach front Zanzibarian cottages, that have traditional lime wash walls, and thatched roofs made from woven palm leaves.
One of the best characteristics of the accommodation at Pongwe Beach Hotel is that as they only offer accommodation in 10 beach front cottages it allows them to maintain a high standard of service, and even during the peak seasons the atmosphere at Pongwe Beach Hotel remains relaxed, intimate and exclusive.
All the cottages are large and well furnished with various local hand crafted Zanzibarian doors and traditional beds and are equipped with mosquito nets, gauze on all the windows, ceiling fans (unfortunately no air conditioning but there is a refreshing off shore breeze which keeps the rooms cool) and have an en suite bathrooms, with Moroccan style walk in showers.
Each cottage also has its own private terrace where guests may enjoy the sunrise, breath taking views of the Indian Ocean.

The restaurant and bar area at Pongwe Beach Hotel is modest, but large and very attractive.
Pongwe Beach Hotel have their own consultant chef from England (who has spent time in the kitchens of the Dorchester Hotel in London) and the famous Lucas Carton (one of Paris’ finest 3 star Michelin restaurants) who has advised and trained their own in house chefs, passing on his skills, you can be assured that the crab, king prawn, and other fine local food will be prepared and cooked to the highest of international standards.
Guests are able to enjoy fantastic views of the ocean while having a suculent meal and watching the sunset over the Indian Ocean while sipping on a glass of wine.
