South Africa - Johannesburg To Durban Via Swaziland Itinerary
Day 1: Johannesburg / Panorama Route
On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you are met and assisted to the Car Hire Depot. Collect your vehicle and depart on your Mpumalanga exploration. Make your way to the historical mining town of Pilgrim's Rest. The town is steeped in the history of pioneers, hunters and fortune seekers. It has been meticulously restored to its former charm.
Day 2: Panorama Route / Hazyview (B)
We suggest that you explore the Panorama Route today. The Panorama Route is one of the most beautiful travel destinations in South Africa. It leads through the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg. The most spectacular stretch is the Blyde River Canyon, which can be reached from Graskop via R532. Just a few kilometres north a small loop road leads to God's Window, from where you will enjoy a wonderful view on the Lowveld. The Canyon starts at Bourke's Luck Potholes and ends at the Three Rondavels.
Day 3: Kruger National Park (B)
After breakfast, head into the Kruger National Park and spend your day game viewing in this unspoilt 20 000 square kilometre park. You will have the opportunity to spot Africa's 'Big Five'. The world-renowned Kruger National Park in South Africa offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa and the world. For an 'up close and personal encounter', we highly recommend a safari in our open vehicles.
Day 4: Kruger National Park / Swaziland (B)
Depart the Kruger National Park area, and travel to the Kingdom of Swaziland. Swaziland is a scenically beautiful and friendly kingdom, steeped in tradition and African culture. Bargain for ethnic curios and African arts and crafts, which are available along the roadsides and at the many craft markets.
Day 5: Swaziland / Hluhluwe (BD)
Depart Swaziland travelling via Manzini and Big Bend before crossing the border into South Africa, and into Zululand, home to the most famous tribe in Africa, the Zulu, as well as a wealth of nature reserves. The Zululand region abounds with wildlife in extensive reserves, the largest of these is the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Reserve where the white rhinoceros was rescued from extinction.
Day 6: Hluhluwe / Durban (B)
Today we travel to Durban, and we recommend a stop at Thanda, a local Zulu village where you can learn about the Zulu culture (own account). Head down the coast to Durban, where you will check-in at Durban International Airport for your onward journey.
