Located on the North Coast of Zanzibar, Amaan Kendwa Resort is one of the newest in Zanzibar. Kendwa is noted for its long magnificent beaches and very laid back atmosphere.
The best thing about the Kendwa area is that due to its prime location on the North of the island, it offers you some of the longest and magnificent beaches in Zanzibar, combining that with the laid back atmosphere of Amaan Kendwa and the perfect natural combination of sun, sand and sea, you have a perfect place for your Zanzibar Holiday.
Kendwa itself is a tiny village with a population of around 4000 people who rely on fishing and simple farming, but along the beach there are small hotel and resorts which have been built sympathetically to the environment. There is a band of trees which separate the hotels from the beach, which remains unspoilt and breathtakingly beautiful.
Amaan Kendwa is one of the newest resorts in the area, located directly on the beach and built onto the hillside giving you fantastic panoramic views of the Indian Ocean beach that seems lapped by water that appears to be pure aquamarine. Amaan Kendwa is the perfect place for those that prefer a quieter holiday or break away, very comfortable and the sort of place where you come and go as you please.

Accommodation at Amaan Kendwa
Amaan Kendwa has a total of 39 rooms which are set out on a rolling coral slope with the reception area at the top and divided into 3 different categories.
Garden View Rooms, which are built in a U-shape placed on either between the Standard and Premium Sea View Rooms facing out on to the gardens and located about 50 metres from the beach.
Standard Sea View Rooms, facing out on to the ocean and located a bit further in the resort which are a 2 minute walk from the beachfront. Similar to the Premium Sea Front Rooms but built on a raised platform that offers a stunning ocean view and a panoramic viewing spot.
Premium Sea View Rooms, which are located almost right on the beach and are by far the most popular rooms at the resort. Premium Sea View Rooms also have the added comfort of Air Conditioning and the best views of the Indian Ocean.
All the rooms are basic but comfortable and have en suite bathroom facilities with hot and cold water showers. They are also equipped with window netting, mosquito nets and ceiling fans. The Premium Sea View Rooms have the added bonus of Air Conditioning.
Dining at Amaan Kendwa
Amman Kendwa also has one of the best well reknowned restaurants and bar areas in the area which has been built right on the beach under a massive Makuti structure. Here you need to reserve your table early as it has fast become one the most popular restaurants in the area.
Meals are served at the restaurant, which offers a good range of local and international cuisine courtesy of their well trained and vastly experienced Chef’s.
The nice thing about the Kendwa area and nearby Nungwi is that it also offers you a variety of other restaurants, lodges and beach pubs for you to choose from, so if you feel up to it, take a walk and see where the beach takes you.
