Pilanesberg National Park is situated on the eroded remains of an extinct alkaline volcanic crater - one of only three in the world. The Park consists of numerous hills, wooded ravines and grassed open plains, making the area very picturesque. A wide diversity of eco-types makes a beautiful home for more than 35 species of large mammals, the sought-after "Big Five" and more than 300 bird species. Nestled in the North West Province, this area was proclaimed as a National Park in 1979, covering an area of 55 000ha. It has been restocked with most of the species that inhabited the area in the late eighteenth century including the majestic "Big Five". One of the most advantageous aspects of Pilanesberg is that it is situated within a malaria- free belt. By road the Golden Leopard Resort is situated 60 kms from Rustenburg on the Thabazimbi road R510 - or follow the signs to Sun City. With South African Airlines to - Pilanesberg Airport. Transfers from and to Golden Leopard Resorts may be arranged.

Hiking Trails - 4 hours Rate - R240.00 per person. Departing early morning driving deep into the park with an experienced guide. Minimum 4 people. No Children under 12 years of age. Game Drives Rate - R170 per adult (minimum 4 people) Group Rate - R150 per person (minimum 20, maximum 150) Departing sunrise, afternoon, sundowner and night drives. Game Drives + Bush Braai Gametrackers vehicles depart late afternoon and takes you on an African adventure through 55000 hectares of the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve, home of the big five. On your journey you will encounter Lions, Leopards, Elephant, Buffalo as well as many other animals. Your host will be one of our experienced game rangers who will welcome any questions you might have regarding the wildlife, birds and plants. You are then transported to our boma where all guests will be welcomed with a glass of sherry. You will dine under the African sky, surrounded by the sound of the bush. A tribal dance group can be arranged at a cost of around R2200.00, which will enhance the African atmosphere at the boma.
