We stayed outside Stonetown on arrival in a dump of a hotel that cost the same as this character hotel right in the centre. Very polite friendly staff. Lots of interesting antiques and art. Great location. Excellent rooms which could easily fit a family. Highly recommended.

This hotel was a special part of our round the world vacation experience and it did not disappoint. We Chose the presidential suite, located on the third floor (stairs only), consisting of an elegant sitting room with small balcony overlooking the inner courtyard and a wonderful bedroom with its own balcony. Both rooms were decorated in tasteful period antiques. It was a mix of old world ambience and modern convenience since it was well-air conditioned (a necessity for Zanzibar) with a spacious bathroom. The courtyard held a clean, cool inviting pool; I do not usually use hotel pools but this one was excellent. Staff are courteous and helpful. Breakfast was good

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in November 2011, it was absolutely lovely. I stayed here with 2 friends, the room was on the top floor. It was huge had 4 double beds, huge bathroom which included a Persian bath. The hotel has a great authentic feel to it with lots of the furniture which was used back in time. The pool is stunning, a great attraction in the centre of the hotel. Would definitaley reccommend to friends. Great location in the heart of things.
