Dream Beach Self-Catering Lodge is located in a three hectare wooded estate almost halfway between Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane.
The lodge is just ten kilometers from the Kosi bay border post and 25km from Kwangwanase, ( Manguzi to the locals) on the South African side of the border where there is a Boxer wholesaler, Hardware shops, Spar, chemist, KFC, FNB and ABSA ATM’s, Post office, spares shops and dozens of small town local traders.
There is also a colourful local market in Ponta which normally sells potatoes, onions, tomatoes, local bread called pau, hot chilli spice, rama, local airtime, local rum called Tipo Tinto. Please don’t drink too much of this stuff, which is the base of the favourite drink amongst visitors, deceptively named R&R. It tastes like cool drink but kicks like a mule. Fernandos is the most popular spot with visitors to imbibe.
There is a swimming pool.
Please be warned that roaming data and cell phone calls are extremely expensive. We suggest disabling data roaming on your everyday phone. Bring a spare smart phone with, purchase a local sim card and data. There are a few spots around town where you can just get weak SA signal.
In Ponta there are many restaurants. Try Florestinos on the beach for most amazing charcoal grilled prawns or Alice just behind the market for some of her roast chicken and chips, wild spinach with peanut butter sauce. Great place for a taste of local culture for groups of ten to twenty.
For the scuba divers there are several dive operators and dive schools. We dive exclusively with Petro Madsen who operates from Gozo Azul in the centre of town. There are also several ‘swim with dolphins’ operators who launch regularly.
Ponta Do Oura is well known amongst the surfing community as well as the kite surfers.
Towards Malongane there is a high cliff overlooking the ocean where one can also learn to para glide.
We recommend only 4x4 vehicles to negotiate the sand tracks. There is a manager on site daily as well as 24 hour professional security. A Wooden stairway to the secluded beach runs between the houses for easy beach access from the houses. Guests in the chalets will have to walk over or around the sand dune to get to the beach.
Please respect other guest’s privacy by refraining from walking onto house decks uninvited and helping to maintain the tranquil atmosphere.
Beach: Houses all have sea views. Waves break about one hundred meters from your window. From the chalets follow the road to the houses and then there are wooden steps down to a secluded private beach.
Wedding Venues: Beach weddings can be arranged including outside catering. The resort can sleep up to 44 guests.
Conference Venues: The dining room can seat twenty people quite easily
Family friendly: There is a pool with deck area.
Romantic: Houses 1 offers lovely sea views from the seclusion of a dune forest
