Enjoy a stunning view of the Indian ocean from the large covered patio with large stacker doors to allow the outdoors in. Dream Beach House 1 unit sleeps six adults comfortably in three bedrooms, with two en-suite master bedrooms, one of which has air conditioning. The third bedroom has two single beds and a bathroom across the passage. There is a fully equipped kitchen including a washing machine and dishwasher. The lounge has a flat-screen TV and guests are welcome to bring their own decoder and plug it in. The house is serviced daily and linen is included, but please bring your own towels.
Water Activities:
Ponta Do Ouro is well known among the surfing community as well as the kite surfers. For the scuba divers, there are several dive operators and dive schools. We dive exclusively with Petro Madsen who operates from Gozo Azul in the centre of town. There are also several ‘swim with dolphins’ operators who launch regularly.
Restaurants:
There are many restaurants to try in Ponta, such as Florestinos (on the beach) which has amazing charcoal-grilled prawns, or Alice just behind the market for some of her roast chicken and chips and wild spinach with peanut butter sauce. There is also a colourful local market in Ponta which normally sells potatoes, onions, tomatoes, local bread called pau, hot chilli spice, Rama, local airtime, and a local rum called Tipo Tinto (which tastes like a cold drink but kicks like a mule). Fernandos is the most popular spot for visitors to imbibe.
Location
The house is a part of Dream Beach Self-Catering Lodge, located on a three-hectare wooded estate almost halfway between Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane. The lodge is just 10 kilometres from the Kosi Bay border post and 25 kilometres from Kwangwanase (Manguzi to the locals) on the South African side of the border.
The colonial-era town of Ponta d’Ouro has boomed in popularity in recent years and is the first Mozambique stop on many Southern Africa overland itineraries. Its best asset is its excellent beach: long, wide and surf-pounded. Offshore waters host abundant life, including dolphins, whale sharks and – from July to October – whales. Thanks to Ponta d’Ouro’s proximity to South Africa, it fills up on holiday weekends. South African rand are accepted almost everywhere.
