Islands of Siankaba

DestinationVictoria Falls
The Islands of Siankaba is a beautiful river lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River, between the Victoria Falls and the Chobe National Park. The islands are reached by a good tarmac road, a well maintained dirt road and finally a great boat ride on the lodge’s own barge. The entire trip takes approximately 40 minutes. The views are simply breathtaking and we even got to see hippos further down river. The lodge consists of two densely forested sand islands linked by a beautiful rope and wooden foot bridge. The principle guest amenities are found on the larger of the two, while the smaller island is home to the guest chalets. This island overlooks the Zambezi towards the game reserve on the southern bank, making for some spectacular views. Siankaba is very exclusive and only sleeps a maximum of 12 people in its 6 teak and canvas cabins. Each cabin is far removed from its neighbour, ensuring a private and secluded retreat from any disturbances. These luxury cabins are raised high above the ground and into the tree canopy, where their balconies overlook the river below. The effect this creates is quite unique and it feels as if you’re actually living in some kind of an extravagant tree house. The construction materials used to build the chalets are all natural and blend perfectly into the surroundings. We were informed that the design of the chalets was based on extensive research into the specific needs of travellers. It definitely seems to have worked!
