Khwai Tented Camp, located with a community-run concession on the eastern border of the Moremi Game Reserve, has recently included a private Family Cottage, which sleeps to its new site overlooking the lagoon. The Khwai community concession provides a good example of a community living in peaceful co-existence with wild animals, and as a community benefitting directly from tourism, there is more focus on protecting the area and its wildlife. Access to the lodge is from the Khwai Airstrip – a 30 minute air transfer from Maun Airport, or a 1 hour air transfer from Kasane Airport.

In the Khwai Family Cottage you will enjoy a spacious and private family safari experience, with wooden deck overlooking the lagoon where afternoon siestas and evening dining can be enjoyed. Accommodation includes an open plan room with a curtain divider between the parents bed and the lounge / children’s area. In addition there are en-suite bathroom facilities comprising of a spacious bath, a shower and an elegant basin, as well as flush toilet facilities. Simple yet elegant, the Khwai Family Cottage provides families with young children the opportunity to experience an authentic and exclusive African safari.

Area Attractions

The area is prolific in birdlife and wildlife species including elephant, buffalo and the larger predators. Activities include game drives, nature walks around the camp for children, walking safaris for the older guests (16 years and older), evening drives and mokoro safaris. This camp is for the family looking for a truly authentic African safari experience.
