Lagoon Camp lies on the shady banks of the Kwando River among tall and ancient African Ebony and Marula trees, under the watchful gaze of the resident hippos. Lagoon Camp accommodates only 12 guests in 6 twin bedded luxury safari-style tents. Each tent looks out over the water and has private en-suite facilities, including 24 hour hot and cold running water, open-air showers, flush toilets and modern amenities. Over the years, many of our guests have commented that Lagoon Camp stands out as one of the most beautiful settings of any safari camp. Morning and night game drives are conducted by our specialist guides and trackers in open safari vehicles. This area is home to huge herds of elephants and buffalo. There are few places in Africa where such concentrated numbers of these animals exist, especially in the dry season.

Area Attractions

Attractions at Kwando Lagoon Camp General game graze on the wide flood plains in spectacular scenery under the ever watchful predators. Lagoon offers regular and reliable sightings of elephant, lion, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, tsessebe, impala, wildebeest, buffalo and waterbuck in stunning settings. The flood plains are demarcated by sudden lines of tall lead wood trees, many hundreds of years old. Shady grasslands give way to the striking silver cluster leaf woodlands that are tended by the elephant, maintaining the characteristic broken gardens effect. West of the floodplains are the endless mopane woodlands that sustain the large herds in the wet season. Amenities at Kwando Lagoon Camp Kwando Lagoon Camp comprises 8 spacious purpose designed tents with views over the private lagoon formed by the ever-changing Kwando river. Each tent comprises a bedroom area with a spacious bathroom en suite. The bathroom has a double basin set in an indigenous Mukwa wood stand and a flush loo. The spacious outdoor reeded showers capture the essence of Africa that is Kwando. The tents are furnished in the best teak furniture that Zimbabwean master craftsmen can create.
