Nestled in the confluence of the Sand and Mabrak Rivers, Leadwood Lodge offers an intimate and serene getaway that is completely at peace with the bush that surrounds it. With only three suites carefully distanced from each other, Leadwood Lodge offers the idyllic honeymoon setting. It can also ideally accommodate parties of friends and families who want to share an exclusive group experience without intruding on each other’s privacy. The three magnificent suites, with inspiring views over the Sand River, are lavishly appointed in contemporary style with every creature comfort imaginable. Leadwood’s safari vehicles are designed to carry no more than 6 guests. However, when booked for sole-use, a fourth suite may be made available to parties that are happy with 8 guests on their safari vehicle. Viewing Deck: The traffic of game frequenting the trails through and beyond the camp and riverbed may be enjoyed from the cantilevered deck tented by a leafy Jackalberry. It is not uncommon to secretly witness the passage of an elusive leopard from this vantage point. The deck also offers an alternative venue for enjoying the rich fare at meal times. Dining Boma: Traditionally known as “the boma”, this truly African dining venue boasts a ceiling of stars and a roaring fire. It is around the Boma fire that friendships are sealed and all African bush yarns are spun – grandiose tales of fearsome beasts and great escapes are always more memorable when shared around the camp fire. Wine Cellar: Our wine cellar boasts a collection of South Africa’s finest wines. Whether sunning at the pool, resting in the shade of the Leadwoods or enjoying an intimate dinner, we will have something special in our cellar. Guests are invited to peruse our wine list at the time of reservation and to let us know if there are any wines that they would like us to procure that are not currently in stock. Every effort will be made to have these requests available in time for your visit.

Directions To Dulini Leadwood Lodge

Located within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in Mpumalanga. It is possible to get to the area from Johannesburg by road or by air. Guests have a choice of flying to Nelspruit or Hoedspruit, which is followed by a road transfer to Dulini. Alternatively, an air charter can be arranged to the Ulusaba airstrip within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, where a safari vehicle will be standing by to transport you directly to the lodge of your choice.

It is these characters that will win your heart with heroic stories, wow you with phenomenal bush tales and leave you awestruck by their knowledgeable interpretation of the African wild. 10 000 hectares of pristine wilderness are traversed in the comfort of six seat open land rovers. With the teeming biodiversity of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and the skilled interpretation of bush signs by astute Shangaan trackers, no two game drives are ever the same. Trackers and rangers partner in looking for fresh animal tracks and sensitively follow elusive animals into ravines and through thicket to ensure your vivid and exhilarating wildlife encounter. The Dulini field guides are well-versed in creating a memorable safari and will endeavor to position the vehicle for the best photographic opportunities for guests. The Dulini day begins at dawn. An early morning game drive ensures that you catch the tail end of the night exploits of nocturnal creatures and inspires you with the new day vigour of the bush, still veiled in dew. This is an essential two to three hour safari experience that ends in a lavish breakfast back at camp. The option of daily bush walks is offered by our field guides. This serves to highlight those aspects of nature one may miss on a drive and expose you to the energy and excitement of being immersed in the environment. An extended day of relaxation in the tranquillity of the Dulini setting, allows you the opportunity to share bush tales, record memories in your safari journal, indulge in the culinary temptations of our chef and simply unwind and be restored. The excitement of the safari begins again after tea when the intensity of the African heat begins to subside. This game drive coincides with the close of business for daytime game and the emerging routines of nocturnal beasts on the prowl. There is nothing quite as enthralling as pursuing the hunt of the big cats. The excitement of each drive is interrupted by refreshment breaks, to accommodate any call of the wild and revitalize you with a sundown cocktail.
