Mhondoro Lodge is set in the heart of the magnificent malaria free Welgevonden Game Reserve. It offers the perfect getaway for the discerning traveller. The luxurious lodge offers five star accommodation coupled with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Only a 2,5 hour drive from Johannesburg and set on a rocky outcrop, Mhondoro boasts sweeping views of the unspoilt, pristine African bushveld. With an exclusive waterhole sited in front of the main lodge sundeck, you are assured of intimate sightings of the Welgevonden wildlife as well as awe inspiring sunrises and sunsets. Mhondoro Lodge is also easy accessible by aeroplane. When you board at Lansaria airport, it will take approximately one hour for you to arrive nearby Mhondoro Lodge. The Welgevonden Game Reserve is divided by the three main rivers that meander quietly through densly wooded regions on their way to joining the mighty Limpopo river. The Game Reserve is part of the larger United Waterberg Biosphere in the Limpopo province, founded in 1993, and is comprised of mountainous terrain divided by deep valleys and kloofs (ravines).

Mhondoro Game Lodge Amenities

There are three De Luxe Villas and one Presidential Villa at Mhondoro Lodge.The Presidential Villa has two unique bedrooms and a luxurious outdoor Jacuzzi. Each villa has: A bedroom and en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower, a giantsized bath and outdoor shower, shampoos & lotions, hair-dryer and bathrobe; A private veranda, a fireplace, airconditioning, an iPod docking station, a minibar, coffee- and tea-making facilities and a flashlight. Our lodge is highly exclusive and can cater for a maximum of ten people. It has a compact swimming pool on the main veranda and a beauty and wellness centre with a steam room, massage facilities etc. Our TV lounge is the ideal place to chill out with a good book, a TV programme or a drink. There is an internet connection for checking emails and a kids corner.

Directions To Mhondoro Game Lodge

North on the N1 past Pretoria East towards Pietersburg (Polokwane). Come off the N1 at the Kranskop Toll Plaza, turn left and head west through Nylstroom and Vaalwater. Do not deviate from the main road when passing through either Nylstroom or Vaalwater. The Welgevonden Main Gate is 26km from Vaalwater on the left hand side. The distance is approximately 270 km from Johannesburg and should take about 2 - 3 hours. You will be met at the boma on the left with refreshments.

Area Attractions

Every day there are game drives, led by the rangers, our own private guides, all professional and knowledgeable. Their love of the bush is contagious. Game drives take place in the early morning before breakfast, or in the late afternoon or early evening, after tea. You can also join the rangers in bush walks and excursions. If there is enough interest, a day trip can be organized to the Bushman paintings, two-thousand-year-old artwork created by the previous inhabitants of the region, the San tribe. Our hosts and hostesses will be happy to tell you more about things to do and see in Welgevonden.
