22km northeast of Inhambane you will find Tofo Beach, and she will be all you imagined her to be. Even better is the fact that a number of Mozambique's best beaches are close by. The whole shoreline is a beautiful stretch frequented by fishermen and dhows. You can reach Tofo by normal two-wheel drive vehicles, but the other lodges to the south are accessible by 4x4 only. Tofo has a much livelier atmosphere and nightlife by comparison with the quieter resorts found south of Inhambane. There is a decent range of budget accommodation all along the beach but backpackers may feel a little marginalised.
