Mtoni Marine is situated several kilometres outside Stone Town at Bububu, near the ruins of Mtoni Palace, the first palace of Sultan Seyyid Said. This Zanzibar hotel has one of the finest restaurants on the island where guests can dine in true fusion style. The food is served at tables on the beach, so you can feast on delicious cuisine while sitting barefoot under the stars. Even if you don't decide to stay at the hotel, try to make a point of visiting this romantic restaurant. A great new addition to the existing restaurants is the Sushi bar, serving fresh sushi daily. Besides the Sushi bar, they have opened a tropical therapy centre, where they administer tropical aroma therapy. The friendly staff at Mtoni Marine are willing to offer advice about a variety of excursions. You can also go cruising around this Zanzibar islands on the hotel's new dhow, the Spice Coast Dhow. This comes at a fee though. The Bububu area is of historical interest as you'll find the ruins of two Sultan palaces as well as some interesting Persian baths. The hotel offers a relaxed, laid-back place to escape the hustle and bustle of Stone Town. We only recommend you spend a night or two here if you plan to really experience Stone Town, which is a 6km taxi drive away. Mtoni Marine is ideal as either a stop over if you dont want to stay in Stone Town, or for 2-3 nights if you want to experience the culture of Stone Town, do not want the noise associated with the town, and would like good-looking views of the ocean and Chapwani Island.
