Old Beacon Hill is the ideal platform to discover all that KwaZulu-Natal beholds.
Positioned in the idyllic Lowlands and with a `hilly` vista we provide a relaxing atmposphere and excellent base to discover the Drakensberg (mountainous landscapes and outdoor activities), the Midlands Meander (arts, crafts, food and wine)and the historic Battlefields.
Unbelievably this haven is less than a 2 minute drive away from the N3 giving easy access to these treasures of KZN.
We have 2 self catering cottages sleeping up to 6 guests in each. Both cottages are tastefully decorated and contain everything you will need to make your stay a comfortable one.
Aside from your own private garden (of course with braai facilities) there are ample grounds for our guests to explore.
There is a stream to picnic beside, a pond to relax by, and a torch-lit gazebo to watch the sunsets and wildlife whilst holding a glass of your favourite tipple.
Rooms
There are 3 double bedrooms in each cottage ( 1 double bed with en-suite and 2 x twins).
There is also a fantastically equipped kitchen/dining area in each and lovely relaxing living rooms.
Only a 25 minute drive will take you to the heart of the Champagne Valley and its mountainous environment and all outdoor pursuits....hiking, horse riding, helicopters etc.
If its arts, crafts, food and wine you’re after, then a 20 minute drive will take you to Nottingham Road and all the Midlands Meander has to offer.
Locally, there are beautiful drives and walks where you can see the Bushman’s River in all its glory and the first of many historical Battlefield sites- Willow Grange is about 5km away with a scenic drive that takes you up into the hills.
You may want to visit a game reserve - the popular Weenen is only 25minutes away where you can see black and white rhino, giraffe, zebra amongst numerous other creatures.
A whole host of other activities such as health spa, golf (7 minutes away), trout fishing, birding, water sports are all very accessible from Old Beacon Hill.
Old Beacon Hill Amenities
Each cottage has their own private garden. Not far from your garden gate there is a gazebo and a pond. At the bottom of the property runs a stream. The cottages themselves have everything you need to make your stay a comfortable one, from DSTV channels in your lounge, to a fully equiped kitchen.
Directions To Old Beacon Hill
Simply leave the N3 at Estcourt South and follow the signs to the Lowlands.
Head down the dirt road (keeping Midway Petrol Station on your right)for about 1km and you will see the sign for Old Beacon Hill.
