Nestled in the Afromontane Forest, just several kilometers from Knysna, lies The Phantom Forest Eco Reserve. Here, the raised luxury 'tree suites' have colours and textures of the beautiful Africa, views that stretch into the distant horizon and skies that are roamed by the Fish Eagles. The beautiful Garden Route surrounds the reserve and adds to the magical experience which is filled with all the evocative sounds, scents and tastes of Africa. Privately owned, within 137 hectares of nature reserve on the Knysna Rive the Phantom Forest offers a unique bio-diversity of Afromontane forest, Cape coastal fynbos and estuarine wetland. There are over 150 bird species, bush pig, bushbuck, grysbok, the rare blue duiker (one of Africa's smallest antelope), and a variety of smaller game. Emphasis is placed on the use of sustainable methods of construction. Alien vegetation, gleaned directly from our eco-restoration programme, has been utilised in floors, furniture, roofs and boardwalks. Drawing inspiration directly from nature, a harmonious balance has been created, from ragged thatch rising into the forest canopy, to wood shingle and a 'freshwater' nature pool. In true eco-terms, man's intrusion in our wonderful natural environment has been graciously accepted by both flora and fauna.

Tree Suites The 6 Classic Tree Suites are a magical celebration of African textures. Named after indigenous trees (such as Monkey Plum and Turkey Berry), these elevated tree-suites comprise an entrance area, bedroom & sitting room, stunning end-glass gable, sensuous bathroom with glass roof over double-ended bath, twin basins, separate shower room with bidet & loo and relaxing deck. Upper Tree Suites The 4 Upper Tree Camp Suites, a magical celebration of natural fabrics, are intimate and romantic. These suites are the perfect honeymoon hideaway. Count the stars together in the jetted outdoor bath on your private deck, or cosy up on the indoor daybed with a glass of wine. Arum, Erica, Strelizia and Watsonia are named after species in our Fynbos Floral Kingdom. Moroccan Tree Suites The Moroccan Tree Suites are in synergy with our theme of 'Touch and Taste Africa'. These fabulous suites are decorated with a distinctly North African feel, from the sensuous touch of silk and velvet, to the visual beauty of mosaic and handcrafted lamps.

Nature Pool Relax by the poolside and savour the view Bubble Barrel After some gentle exercise in our mini gym, pamper your muscles in the invigorating Bubble Barrel and sauna. The Eyrie Sip sundowners at the Eyrie and enjoy a spectacular sunset with views to match, sharing the moment with the resident Fish Eagles! In winter pre-dinner drinks are enjoyed. Gather around the cosy fireplace on cool evenings. Body Boma As you start your spiritual journey through the heart of our forest, experience this timeless place of peace and tranquility.
