Located approximately 10km North East of the Kruger National Park’s Skukuza Rest Camp, the concession shares a 15km unfenced boundary with Mala Mala in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The concession comprises of environmentally sensitive areas previously unexplored, with huge biodiversity. Environmentally responsible game drives take place on the road within the world renowned Kruger National Park with no harassment of animals or damage to fauna and flora. The luxurious and environmentally friendly Rhino Post Safari Lodge is set on the banks of the Mutlumuvi Riverbed on the Southern end of the private concession, with the Kruger National Park. Stilts raise the 8 spaciously appointed bush suites from the riverbank allowing guests to view the Mutlumuvi riverbed with ease from the bedroom, bathroom and private wooden deck. Suites are set out in an open plan style with wooden floors, thatched roofs, canvas walls and an overhead fan. Each en suite bathroom includes a deep, freestanding bath, his and hers basins, a separate toilet and an outdoor shower. Activities at Rhino Post Safari Lodge: Game Drives: Guided game drives in the late afternoon /evening and early morning. All drives are in open game viewing vehicles on the concession and Kruger Park roads. Sleep Out: The elevated wooden Sleep Out platforms are located within the concession, approximately 30 mins drive from Rhino Post. Guests will be driven to the Sleep Outs, where sundowners are enjoyed on the viewing deck overlooking a waterhole. Enjoy a traditional braai prepared by your guides and sleep out under the stars. No charge for 4 or more guests. No walking is available from Rhino Post. Guests who wish to do a walking safari will need to stay at Rhino Walking Safaris (Plains Camp), if you wish to do the Sleep Outs. Children under the age of 6 will not be able to join game drives unless the family have booked a private vehicle. A special dinner sitting is arranged for the children (8 years and under) from 18h00. Children will be required to vacate the dining area for the main sitting at 20h00. Parents are welcome to join their children at dinner at the earlier time. Baby-sitting services are available from the lodge prior arrangement is necessary. Triples in room for children 16 years and younger.

Each en suite bathroom includes a deep, freestanding bath, ‘his and hers’ basins, a separate toilet and an outdoor shower protected by thick reed poles. All the suites have mini-bars and telephones linked to all areas. Air-conditioning in dining area only. Rhino Walking Safaris: Plains Camp offers 4 comfortably furnished African explorer style tents, en suite with hot running water and all the comforts of home with the African Wilderness on your doorstep. There is a communal Lounge & Dining Area with outside fireplace and active waterhole. Each tent has overhead fans. Sleep Outs Guests arrive on foot at the platforms in the early evening carrying a light weight rucksack containing a change of clothes and refreshments. After arriving and choosing their platform, sundowners are enjoyed overlooking a waterhole while your guide starts preparing a traditional braai for the evening meal. There sleep out decks are equipped with 2 bathrooms with hot showers and flushing toilets. A maximus of 8 guests are permitted on Sleep Out and are accompanied by 2 armed guards.

Directions To Rhino Post Safari Lodge

Directions from Kruger Gate to Rhino Post Safari Camp: After entering the Kruger Gate, drive straight for approximately 12kms. This will bring you to a four-way crossing. Turn left at this crossing (heading in the direction signposted Lower Sabi / Rhino Walking Safaris). After approximately 2kms you will reach a T-junction. At this T-junction, turn left and travel about 1km which will bring you to another four-way crossing. At this crossing, turn right. You will cross a low water bridge (over the Sabi River); about 4kms later you will cross another low water bridge (over the Sand River). You will pass a dirt road on your left, signposted “Maroela Loop”, keep going straight on the tarred road. Approximately six kms after the first “Maroela Loop” turnoff, you will pass another dirt road on your left, also signposted “Maroela Loop”. Approximately 1km after this second “Maroela Loop” turnoff, you will turn left onto a dirt road signposted “Rhino Walking Safaris”. Travel straight down this dirt road for 2,5km. At this point the dirt road turns 90 degrees to the left. Take this turning, and travel a further 2,7kms, which will lead you directly to Rhino Post Safari Camp in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Area Attractions

Kruger National Park is one of the premier game-watching destinations in the world for a South Africa safari. Approximately 145 mammal species occur in the park. At Rhino Post it is possible to see all the classical African big game on a South Africa (Big Five), including Elephant, black and white Rhino, Hippopotamus, Giraffe, Zebra, Buffalo, Warthog and many Antelope species. Large carnivores include Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog and spotted Hyena. There are also many smaller mammals equally enticing species to see on your Kruger National Park safari and suggested itineraries. Kruger National Park has approximately 220 Black Rhino, 15 253 Buffalo, 250-300 Cheetah and 7 834 Elephant for you to see on your South Africa safari. Kruger has a list of almost 500 bird species, some of which are not to be found elsewhere on a South Africa safari. Hornbills, Starlings, Vultures, Rollers, Bee-eaters and Shrikes typify the ubiquitous avi-fauna and birders can look forward to pursuing the Big Six (Saddle-billed Stork, Kori Bustard, Martial Eagle, Lappet-faced Vulture, Pel's Fishing Owl and Ground Hornbill). Raptor viewing can also be very rewarding on a South Africa safari in Kruger Park with Bateleur, Martial, Black-breasted Snake, Brown Snake, African Hawk, African Fish and Tawny are all regularly seen, and in summer: Wahlberg's, Steppe, Lesser Spotted.

Sleep outs are available at Rhino Post as an extra activity and are at no extra cost for a group of 4 people or more – prior arrangement require and subject to availability. For 3 people or less a charge will be levied for the sleep out activity.

Park Fees:
R62.00 per person per stay – drive in guests
R91.00 per person per stay – fly in guests
Kruger National Park Fees are per person per visit regardless of the number of nights stay, but subject to change by South African National Parks. Flying in and out of the Park is R91.00 on arrival and R0.00 on departure, but if a guest arrives by road, and departs by air both drive in guest fee and fly in guest fee will be applicable.
Children Policy
Rhino Post Safari Lodge can accommodate 1 additional child per room on a stretcher bed with a maximum 2 rooms at the same time.
When sharing with 2 adults in the same room, the following rates will apply:
Children 0 – 3 years: stay free of charge
Children 4 – 12 years: pay 50% of the adult sharing rate
Children 13 – 18 years: pay 75% of the adult sharing rate
2/3 children sharing in their own room – 1st child pays adult rate, 2nd child irrespective of their age pays 75% and 3rd child pays according to the age.
Children over the age of 18 years are considered as adults and are charged as such.
