We stayed in several lodges on Safari recently and this has to be the most characterful. Rooms are fairly basic and small but its all about the atmosphere & view. Luckily it was fairly quiet at the lodge as we were right next to the bar, most guests were watching the waterhole anyway. Food was very good, as was the service, we liked the idea of the animal list you wanted to be woken up to see (elephants appeared at the waterhole 10 minutes after going to bed). Great views of Mount Kenya as well but it was mainly the varied animal and birdlife that kept us amused, especially at night. OK - so maybe putting food out to attract the Genet cats is cheating a bit.

The water hole was a little disappointing - there were a few buffalo and deer there - but that was it. Some people in our party asked for a wake up during the night if a lion appeared - no lion appeared! The place is very rustic and tranquil and a great place to unwind after our flight from UK - bottled Tusker was great and smoking is allowed on the upsatirs part of the building - overlooking the water hole. The food was very good - as other revies have said - the main course is cooked fresh to order - 1 slight criticism was the 'crunchiness' of the cooked vegetables!! Fantastic view os Mount Kenya in the morning - no clouds - just an iconic mountain view!

Stayed for one night as part of a safari trip. Great place to stay as it is different from the other lodges we stayed in. The staff were very friendly and the food was the best we had during our 7 day safari - buffet for starters and desserts with a wide choice and main was ordered and delivered hot - very good quality. Location couldn't be better. We spent all our time watching the water hole and were not disappointed - so loads animals - especially elephants - very special time. Only gripe was that the rooms were noisy - heard every step from people above us - ask for room on top floor - would definitely stay here again though.

We loved staying here, definitely felt like staying in a mountain lodge! The room was small but sufficient! Loved watching the animals from our balcony, it was amazing! Staff was friendly, room was clean, food was fantastic! Just wish we coulda stayed more than 1 night ! Highly recommend if u love this type of atmosphere!
