Swahili Beach Resort is the perfect antedote to the hustle and bustle of modern life. Situated on a lovely stretch of beach in Kizimkaze in the southern most point of Zanzibar, it is an ideal spot for swimming, bumming around on the beach, gazing at the beautiful sunsets and watching the twinkling lights of Dar in the distance. This is also the place to come if you are interested in seeing dolphins - you can either book through the hotel or one of many local guides can take you. It's location means that it exists cheek by jowl with Kizimkaze village. By the end of my two week stay, I felt I was able to grasp the local culture and traditions going on around me, but Swahili Beach actively encourage guests to visit the village. Speaking a little bit of Swahili goes a long way and the beautiful, kind, friendly staff were only to happy to teach me and my boyfriend a few words. By the end of our stay, we had made some friends for life. I will definitely return.

What can I say about this hotel and the area surrounding it without gushing? We visited just before the end of Ramadan to find the hotel empty with just the two of us as guests for the whole of our two week stay......for us this was heaven. All the accommodation in the immediate area was also very quiet so the gorgeous white, powder beach was only shared with the local villagers. We were immediately upgraded to a beachfront bungalow and the staff could not do enough for us nor could they have been friendlier or more welcoming. We saw no more than eight other guests coming and going during the whole of a two week stay and loved every moment of it. The Zanzibari people are without exception friendly and welcoming, even in the bustling streets of Stone Town we found the local residents charming. We loved Zanzibar and all it has to offer. I do not think we will ever get sole use of an entire resort again, but we will certainly be returning. We felt like part of the 'Swahili Beach family' when we left even receiving farewell hugs from the hotel management. Simply magical!

We stayed there in December 2008, from the 23rd to the 30th for our Honeymoon. It was amazing. Swahili Beach Resort is a stunning place. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay at in Zanzibar. We stayed in a Sands Room, right in front of the beach. It was lovely. The food is great and the service is excellent. Anna is a great hostess and Ted is a great host, and so are the likes of Suleiman, Yahya and Mubarak. The chef Rashid, prepares wonderful delicious food. And the tours that they arrange are amazing. Take a lovely walk into the village and long walks up the beach front. Don't miss this opportunity!

We stayed at Swahili fro 16 -23 december. We had a super time, excellent value for money. Ted & Anna have made it very special. When you get there ask for a Zanzibari buffet - it includes exotic offerings such as green banana soup - unforgettable. Excellent day trips, and the dolphins reaally do swin in the sea in front of the resort. Also very good snorkelling at low tide.It is a small resort that gives an intimate feel. Prices were fair - never felt ripped off. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the resort on the edge of the fishing village also give a good glimpse on local life.
