A private barbeque lunch on one of the small deserted islands near the southern coast can be organized for you. Diving The Zanzibar's first PADI 5-star dive centre One Ocean operates our diving and snorkeling activities. Whether you are an experienced diver or a novice, our instructors give you the opportunity to discover the stunning undersea world of the Indian Ocean in a way suiting your personal wishes. At our house reef in front of the resort you can enjoy beautiful coral, a diversity of tropical fish and other spectacular sea-life. A traditional dhow can take you to more remote locations. There you meet the big ones such as reef sharks, barracudas and sometimes even a whale shark. From September until December humpback whales are often seen. For real adventurous divers we organize exploration dives: we go out to look for the real untouched parts of the Indian Ocean using GPS and echo sounder. We also offer you a broad range of dive courses. Our professional and experienced instructors are all PADI certified and speak several languages. Of course you will dive with modern, well maintained, high quality equipment. Snorkeling A traditional dhow takes you to the most beautiful parts of the protected Menai Bay. After snorkeling we can organize a barbeque lunch for you on the beach of a deserted island not far from the Kizimkazi coast. Dolphin encounters Kizimkazi is well known for the many dolphins which inhabit the area. With a dhow and a local guide we take you out and find them. Although they are wild animals they swim close to the boat for you to watch and enjoy. Exploring Zanzibar We gladly organize visits to all of the interesting places on Zanzibar for you. Additionally to the well known places of interest such as Jozani Forest Reserve, Stonetown, spice farms and Prison Island, we can arrange to guide you to many less known places as well. You will be under the professional care of a local guide selected to suit your itinerary. A tour through the local village of Kizimkazi guided by one of the villagers is offered to you free of charge.

Unguja Lodge offers an fantastic atmosphere, built with local found materials the place breaths African atmosphere. It is a suburb balance between an open air Zanzibar experience and Western comfort. The food is excellent and local. If you fancy pizza, steak, chips... stay away and leave it to us to enjoy it...YES WE LIKE. The hotel's own Paddy center run by Nick is located in the Hotel garden and offers all you want next to your lodge.

Wonderful escape away from hustle and commercialism. Had an ocean view "bungalow" which was delightful. Service from all the staff was superb. Food was excellent. This was a last minute booking, through Pure Zanzibar, as I unexpectedly had a few days spare whilst on a business trip - am now going to have to return and take my wife. No good if you object to sharing your accommodation with a family of black tailed monkeys, geckos, birds, butterflies etc. Pure magic. The rainy season starts in mid March and goes through April and May, which is when I am told very few people visit - and my taxi driver said he goes back to the mainland to be with his family.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week in January this year at Unguja Lodge. We loved it. It ticked all the boxes for us and we will return. I only have good things to say about the place. The hosts, accommodation, staff, food, drinks, weather were all exceptional. So relaxing and we didn't want to leave. My husband did a lot of diving whilst we were there and said it was the best diving experience he has ever had, and he's had a few!! Nick and the guys at the dive centre were great, very professional but also good fun to be with. One of the best times of the day for us was sharing a bottle of wine, sat on our own private terrace in the company of a family of black tailed monkeys as they passed by and watching the sun set! Heaven! On our first evening we saw dolphins swimming one way and on our last evening caught them swimming back the other way! Cant wait to return. I think about our experiences at Unguja Lodge a lot and it makes me smile when ever I do. We love this place!

This place is an oasis. The owners Ralph & Elise are such lovely people & their passion for Unguja is clearly shared by all the the staff. We were married there on 14.2.12 after a 2 week safari in Tanzania and every person went the extra mile to make our day & stay amazingly special. They have a great team around them. The lodges are beautiful and very clean, the gardens are immaculate, the pool is so relaxing, the food is awesome & the cocktails are pretty good too!! :-). From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome & valued and love the fact that the staff try to remember everyones name. The morning alarm call was great from the monkeys and having tea & coffee outside your door each day was lovely. We were both so sad to leave & have wonderful memories of our time here. Nick in the dive centre was so great too. Thank you to you all for everything you did & the warm place you will ALL hold in our hearts.
