Limpopo Province is considered the link between South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, as it shares international borders with three countries: Botswana to the west, Zimbabwe to the north, and Mozambique to the east. The province also share borders with the South African provinces of Mpumalanga, Gauteng, and North West. Its border with Gauteng includes the province's Johannesburg-Pretoria axis, the most industrial metropole on the continent. Thus the province is placed at the centre of regional, national, and international developing markets. The province contains much of the Waterberg Biosphere, a UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserve of approximately 15 000 square kilometres.
