The Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland Delta and stretches over a magnificent 15 000 km2.
The Delta is undoubtedly one of the world’s top safari destinations offering an amazing variety of activities. You could mokoro (dugout canoe) in the inland waterways surrounded by papyrus beds and water lilies or walk on the islands searching for resident game and birdlife. Exciting 4 x 4 drives through the delta are offered to search for big game, including lion and leopard.
Each year as the rainfall from Angola flows down the Kavango River, the Okavango Delta fills with water making water based safaris an absolute must. During this time (May – October) the game congregates on the dry islands making for incredible game density and predator interaction.
In the Eastern side Okavango Delta is the Moremi Game Reserve, this reserve consists of pans, floodplains, lagoons, grasslands, forests of acacia trees, savannahs and dense Mopane Woodlands, making this a prime tourist destination and boasts an array of safari lodges ranging from super luxurious to more basic tented camps
