On the South Coast of Zanzibar is the Fumba Peninsula. This area is one of the most relaxed and friendly areas of the island, but until recently it has only been used as a spot for short day-trips or to see dolphins or the red colobus monkeys in Jozani Forest. In June 2005 the first lodge opened up here, the Fumba Beach Lodge. The lodge is situated on 40 acres of private land, including three sandy coves.
